One blind, two moods
Day and night blinds — often called zebra blinds — run horizontal sheer and solid fabric bands on a single loop. Align the bands and light filters through softly with a view still visible; offset them and the blind reads as near-solid. It's the current favourite for living rooms, studies and dining areas that face Hurlingham's gardens, because it answers the "privacy or view" question without forcing a choice.
It's worth being upfront about the limits, too: even fully offset, a little light seeps at the band edges, so a bedroom that needs true darkness is better served by a blockout roller, or a blockout-and-sheer combination. The sheer bands are also more delicate than solid fabric near curious hands and paws, and moisture-heavy rooms like steamy bathrooms suit aluminium venetians better.
